Health and Wellbeing: Taking Root
Assessing wellbeing and maintaining quality
From research we know that high levels of staff/parent wellbeing are linked to positive outcomes for children but in order to maintain and manage wellbeing across the setting to support everyone, you need a strategy and a structure that’s embedded and that everyone understands and is involved in.
Feedback from colleagues were that they found many awards schemes and assessments hugely time consuming, expensive and onerous to complete. They rarely involved the whole team and were not personalised to the setting which made it less meaningful.
The PurpleBee Start Life Well Wellbeing-in-action Toolkit and Award Scheme was born from our desire to create a wellbeing platform that helps all settings to solve and meet the real wellbeing challenges that they face with ease.
The Start Life Well assessment was really helpful in identifying strong areas that the setting is achieving positive outcomes for children and their families, and also identifying shortfalls that need improvements to enable children and their families to achieve their best possible outcomes.

Start Life Well is the only digital system that provides a comprehensive wellbeing audit that is unique to each setting and meets and exceeds Ofsted expectations around health and wellbeing requirements.
The programme provides essential wellbeing CPD for the whole staff team and seamlessly integrates with the settings existing systems and policies to support the wellbeing and development of children, parents and staff.
The assessment generates a personalised, detailed report and action steps to provide you with a map and blueprint for making improvements across the whole setting and ensures that you are meeting and exceeding your settings wellbeing standards.
I have completed other healthy eating awards in the past but ran out of steam towards the end. Start Life Well has given me ideas and understanding and because it is the preschool’s project it means more to the setting rather than just being given rules to follow.

The Start Life Well assessment was extremely useful for me to see where we can improve as a setting. I loved how I was able to share this with the other staff in an easily accessible way.
